Our Organisation:

The Football Association (The FA) is the governing body of football in England. We are responsible for promoting and developing the game at all levels; from grass roots through to the professional game, The FA Cup and the England International teams, and has two core assets: Wembley Stadium and St George’s Park.

The Role:

This new role has been created to maintain and improve the performance of the FA websites (primary focus being on TheFA.com), in line with The FA’s strategic objective of engaging with fans, players and enablers in the game

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Reviewing Website analytics & technical performance data to make and implement recommendations - working with our Digital Content Team to deliver agreed KPIs of TheFA.com, sponsor/partner activations and other relevant FA websites.
  • Working with the Digital Engagement team to implement the UX strategy and improve the experience for end users.
  • Personalisation; Lead on the implementation and on-going optimisation of The FA’s personalisation strategy, and where appropriate use A/B and multivariate tests to improve performance.
  • Search Engine Optimisation ; continually monitoring FA websites performance and maximise search engine optimisation.
  • Quality Assurance ; Ensure FA websites adhere to agreed design, usability and accessibility standards, fix broken links and misspellings & ensure expiry of redundant content.
  • Monitor and improve where appropriate The FA’s online integrations with Opta, Fulltime, and other internal systems such as Whole Game System and Ticketing services.
  • Own and manage the FA’s Sitecore CMS platform performance, work with the technology team to continually improve the editorial processes.
  • Training; Be responsible for training and on-going support of The FA Sitecore CMS users.
  • Provide relevant insights and perspective, including references to industry best-practice to support Digital strategy development.
The Person: successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience;
  • Qualifications in HCI/Website/Communications
  • Hands on experience of UX and usability best practice
  • Experience of CRO, SEO & Webmastering
  • Excellent multimedia editorial skills across marketing & commercial functions
  • Strong Project Management skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders
  • Good understanding of visual media (image & video)
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role, creating best in class sports or information websites e.g. public sector, education
  • Coaching novice users in website best practice
  • SiteCore CMS experience
  • Image optimisations for Web using PhotoShop
  • Intermediate user Google Analytics, Google 360 or Tableau
  • Ability to present actionable insights to wide range of stakeholders
